Buying the right property for you and your family

A Fresh Start in 2019 – Finding The Right Property For You

We are now into a new year, and with the new year comes new resolutions and priorities. If one of your goals this year is buying a new home, here’s some valuable advice on where to start.

When it comes to deciding on the best suburb to live in, there is a lot to consider. If you’re looking for a completely different lifestyle, make an honest list of must-haves, compared to wants and be prepared to research your chosen area thoroughly. Chatting to the locals at the park or to the barista who makes your coffee is the best place to start. Ask yourself; do you want to be close to work, for example, close to the city, or is it important to be close to your family? Proximity to public transport, schools and shops are also worth considering, as is access to parks, the beach, cafes and restaurants. These things are worth bearing in mind not only to ensure you enjoy living in the area you choose to buy in, but also as a long-term plan.

Moving to a new environment can add an exciting new outlook to your life. But to make the most of your move, it is important to be well prepared. Ask the local council how your new neighbourhood might change in the future. New buildings and businesses and even motorways may be part of the area’s plan. Don’t assume a quiet, small town will stay that way forever.

Once you have selected where you would like to move, the fun can begin! Inspect a number of properties in your price range. At each inspection, ask the agent lots of questions. After viewing several properties, you should have a pretty good idea of what you can afford. Don’t forget every buyer has to give up something, but with a bit of creativity it doesn’t have to feel like you are going without. Putting a positive spin on things can work wonders. If you are willing to compromise, you’ll find your options radically increase, and your property journey will be a walk in the park.
