How to Choose a Building Inspector

Finding a building inspector can be a daunting task if you don’t know what to look for, especially when purchasing a property for the first time. This is why, at Your Building Inspector, we only provide the very best professional, transparent service, to make your inspection process as hassle-free as possible!

Here are a few things you should consider when choosing a building inspector.

Are They Qualified to Be a Building Inspector?

It’s important to ask the question and make sure your inspector is actually qualified to perform the report in detail. At Your Building Inspector, all our building inspectors are qualified with a Building License (minimum 10 years experience) and Building Inspection License. All licensed builders are allocated a license number and are required to provide you with this information.

Our inspectors are also licensed with their termite inspection license, which is a legal obligation needed to carry out inspections!

Do They Offer a Full and Thorough Inspection Service?

A thorough pre-purchase building inspection can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes- depending on the size of the house, the state of property and the complexity of issues. At Your Building Inspector, all our building inspectors will provide reports that indicate if there are:

  • Cracks in the wall
  • Mould present
  • Leaks, drainage, and general plumbing issues
  • Working windows
  • Electrical faults
  • Rusting framework
  • Low hanging trees, tree rot, root travel
  • The structural integrity of all external structure, i.e. verandas
  • Possible signs of pest invasion
  • Roof integrity
  • External defects

This is not a complete list but will give you an idea of what a building inspector should be looking for.

Do They Supply a Thorough Report?

Here at Your Building Inspector, our clients receive their report on the same day their inspection takes place, so there is as much time as possible to make a decision on the property. We make sure the report is easy to read and extremely thorough.

Reports include colour photos and unbiased reporting to help you in your decision-making process, as well as comply with the Australian standards.

In Queensland, we have local inspectors ready to help you in these locations;
