New Build Inspections
New build inspections are important steps in the construction of any new building, residential or commercial. By having a licensed inspector check your property for defects and structural issues along the way, you can avoid costly repairs down the road and ensure that your new build is up to standard.
As excited as you may be about your new build, it’s important to get a professional qualified builder to inspect specific stages of the build to ensure that everything is up to scratch. After all, you don’t want to move in to your new home or office only to find out that there are major issues that need to be fixed. New build inspections will check for any and all defects in the property, from cracks in the foundation or walls to problems with the waterproofing or services locations. This way, you can address any issues as you go and before they become bigger (and more expensive) problems down the track.
At Your Building Inspector, we provide comprehensive inspection services that will give you peace of mind in knowing that your new property is soundly built.

Property & New Build Inspection Services
Why is a New Build Inspection Important?
New build inspections are undertaken at specific stages and includes checking for any problems with the property while construction is underway. We start prior to the slab is poured and finish at handover, ensuring that workmanship and quality is up to scratch along the way. That way you can address any concerns before they turn into larger (and more expensive) problems down the track.
Considerations such as building configuration, construction type, obstructions, accessibility, and height may affect the areas we can safely inspect.
Once the inspection is complete, we will provide you with a detailed report of our findings together with photos. This way, you can make sure that your new property is well built and will stand the test of time!

What Our New Build Inspections Include
At Your Building Inspector, we pride ourselves on our thoroughness and attention to detail. We undertake inspections prior to key components of the building being covered up.
These comprise the following stages:
This involves checking the formwork, reinforcement, set downs, service penetrations, termite barriers, and the like prior to the slab being poured. The objective is to ensure that workmanship is acceptable and that the configuration is generally as per the approved plans. A report is produced and emailed to you, including photos of any areas requiring attention.
This involves checking that the quality of materials and the workmanship undertaken by the builder and their trades are acceptable. Additionally, we will check that the layout of the framework the location of slab services, and wet area set-downs are generally in accordance with the approved plans. A report is produced and emailed to you, including photos of any areas requiring attention.
This involves checking on the quality and workmanship when the building is deemed water tight and secure. It involves inspection of windows, doors, masonry &/or cladding, internal services rough-in that works are generally in accordance with the approved plans. A report is produced and emailed to you, including photos of any areas requiring attention.
This involves inspection of the internal linings, cornices, skirting, architraves, doors, door jambs prior to receiving any paint. It is specifically to identify any poor workmanship prior to painting. A report is produced and emailed to you, including photos, of any areas requiring attention.
This inspection is can be quite long and involves inspection of all building elements that have been completed (and not completed). We highlight any major or minor defects using small pieces of ‘blue’ painters’ tape (no glue or residue is left after removal of the tape). Photos of all areas identified will be included in this report. This can then be sent to the builder.
This inspection is can also be quite long and involves inspection of all building elements. The main purpose here is to check all completed works post completion for any defects. They can include cracks to internal linings, ground movement issues and general minor items requiring attention. Photos of all areas identified will be included in this report. This can then be sent to the builder.
